Dr. Elyza Bird - Veterinarian

Dr. Elyza Bird earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Vermont and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.

Growing up on a small farm in rural Vermont, Dr. Bird developed a love of animals at an early age. Initially interested in large animal veterinary medicine, she gained her first veterinary experience shadowing a rural large animal veterinarian. During her undergraduate studies, she explored small animal medicine while working as a veterinary technician and continued to pursue her interest in large animal medicine through an internship at Peterson Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Florida. During her time in Ocala, she developed a love for the state of Florida, which ultimately led her to pursue her veterinary education at the University of Florida.

While attending veterinary school, Dr. Bird realized her true passion for small animal medicine, particularly internal medicine and surgery. She has a particular interest in preventive care and client education and believes that strong communication empowers pet owners to make informed decisions that support their pets' long-term health and well-being. Dr. Bird is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized veterinary care to improve the lives of pets and the people who love them. She is also committed to lifelong learning and looks forward to continuing her education in orthopedic surgery throughout her career.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Bird enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, going to the beach, watching sports (Go Gators and Go Bills!), and spending time with her three cats, Oliver, Dinah, and Jinx.
